How To Put Together A Simple Bird Feeder Effortlessly And For FreeIf you want to add a new bird feeder in your yard, it's not necessary to go to the store and pay a lot of money for one. You actually can make bird feeders at your home. It's easy and quick, and you won't require that many materials for it either. What you need to start out with is a simple one gallon milk jug. Obviously, clean it out thoroughly first to be sure there is no remaining residue from the milk in it. Allow it to dry, and once it is dry, then place the cap on the jug and stand it up where you are going to work. On each side of the handle, cut holes that are around 3 inches in diameter. The holes need to be fairly high on the jug so the bird seed won't spill out of the jug when you are ready to use it. Below the big holes, you can use a nail to punch a small hole, where you'll be able to insert dowels. The dowels are where the birds can come and perch to eat the food. Just make sure that the perch sticks out two inches on each side so birds can easily perch. Use the nail once more to punch holes in the milk jug neck. Do this an inch or so below the cap of the milk jug. Then you'll get some wire and run it through the holes, twisting it together at the top. This is what you are going to use to hang up the bird feeder. Now you are done making your simple bird feeder. All you need to do is load it up with some birdseed. Take it outside and use the wire ends to suspend it from a tree or another type of support in the yard. In order to attract a variety of birds, go with black oil sunflower seeds with your new bird feeder.
