The Leatherman Kick features plastic set into the body of the tool which means it is quite a bit more comfortable to clasp than the old PST and PST II models. The Leatherman Kick is a much welcomed addition, as people who have owned or used a PST will attest to! The pliers have been updated to maximize strength without having an impact on the tool's size or shape, and appears to have worked nicely- they are a little odd to look at for those used to other models, nonetheless this is a tool, not a fashion parade, and they perform.

The Leatherman Kick also packs in a phillips screwdriver, can/bottle opener, a couple of flathead screwdrivers, as well as a clip- point blade. The tool selection may be minimal on this one, although remember, it is the smallest of the 3 products. The plus side is that the tools (most notably the screwdrivers) appear to be slightly better than other multi's - the shafts are slightly longer, allowing a little more versatility than you might expect, and an improved chance at difficult to access screws. There is no doubt about it, the Kick is a well thought out tool, but it does have it's negatives. Because of it's low weight, the Kick feels inadequate. As it is backed by Leatherman's 25 year guarantee, it is a very sturdy tool, however in comparison to several different tools both bigger and smaller in size, it doesn't appear to be quite as robust. It also might seem a little small to those with big hands.

On an important note, even with the low number of tools on the Kick, it does suffer from Leatherman's infamous problem, tool clumping. How is it that a handle with only 3 tools built in, all pull out every time you try to get only one? With each new generation of multi tools, this negative point should be a distant memory.

The Leatherman Kick is a decent tool at a good price, but not an option for a regular user or a bigger person. My suggestion is that it's better suited as a small tool for a lady's handbag or as a young persons first tool. It is a "cute" tool for people that rarely need tools although like to be prepared.
