Use Long Tail Keywords When Researching The Market




You can find a lot of ways to make a living on the internet. But no matter which route you choose, it all starts with market research. You need to find a group of buyers who have a typical problem or need. Then all you need to do is offer them stuff that answer the problem or meet the need.

Market research can be separated into two components - finding a profitable niche and uncovering long tail keywords and phrases inside of that niche. The nice thing about it is that there are quite a few totally free tools available to do this. Several of the best tools are made available by Google itself. So the first thing to do is subscribe for an account with Google. Once you have done that, go to Google's search-based keyword tool at www.Google.com/sktool. Type in the terms 'buy, purchase, order, get' (without quotation marks) into the search area. The sktool will list out 800 words or terms that include these buying keywords together with other useful information like amount of competition, searches per month and so on. All you have to do is choose the term that you feel is the most suitable for yourself, ideally one that provides at least 2,500 searches every month.

Next, click on the icon that looks like a magnifying glass next to the search term that you have selected. This will take you to Google Insights for Search, an additional no cost tool from Google at www.Google.com/insights. It will rapidly search the term that you have chosen and produce the related information at Google insights. Scroll down to the lower part of the page and you will see additional related search terms. Take note of all the related search terms that you discover.

Now you would likely have about 10 buying keyword terms in a specific niche. This basically indicates that there are folks trying to find advice to solve a problem or meet a need in this niche. After that, you should investigate further into how big a sector this niche is and get extra keyword ideas.

Go to amazon.com, ebay.com, magazines.com and clickbank.com. Insert the main keyword of the niche into the search field and notice if there are products that are shown in these websites inside of this niche. Chances are you will locate products in all these websites pertaining to your niche. Briefly review a few of the products for suggestions - both search phrase ideas and product ideas. The next stage is to find long tail keywords.

Take note of the long tail keywords. As soon as you press the search button, Google will list out all the websites relevant to your keyword (this is called the SERP or Search Engine Results Page). Take note of the number of websites listed (it is shown at the top right hand corner of the page). You are targeting keywords with a maximum of 1,000,000 websites. If it is substantially greater than 1 million, then the keyword is too competitive. Do the exact same thing with all of the search terms that you have and select those that have less than 1 million competing websites.

For each of the keywords you enter into Google, take a look at the bottom of the SERP and you will see more suggested related keywords. Simply click on them and you will find even more keywords. Drill down into the keywords as deeply as you are able to till you uncover long tail keywords with under 1 million competing websites.

If you have completed your market research well enough, you will now have identified a niche with willing purchasers along with the long tail keywords (around 10 will do) that they use to search in the search engine for information relating to a product to purchase.
